Dan,

Thanks for the question. I am familiar with the Alesis AM-3, in fact, I wrote a blog about it a while back. Here's the link, if you'd like to take a look at it, but I'm sure you've already done your research so pretty much know what the article already states - http://www.recordingwiz.com/new-alesis-am3-stereo-usb-microphone-records-straight-to-computer/

I have to admit that I have not used the AM-3, but I have used and own some of Alesis' mixers that I use for recording and performing and have been quite pleased with what they make. The other option that you might consider would be their ProTrack Digital Recorder for the iPod. It looks to be pretty cool, although I haven't used it either. I'd love to look into getting one. Here's the link - http://www.recordingwiz.com/alesis-protrack-digital-for-ipod-recording/

Let me know what you think. I know that the AM-3 connects via USB, so you would have to carry your laptop with you as you travel, which I'm sure you do anyway. It just seems that if you can get a little mic for the iPod, it would serve you better. Anyway, just an idea. Let me know what you think!

Best,

Rick

Hi Rick. I'm wondering if you're familiar with the Amesis AM-3. I'm interested in pod and vod casting in stereo with the least fuss that sounds good, and is QUIET. I use a MacBook Pro 15, so an Apogee Duet with two mics would be ideal, and maybe that's what I'll do. I am looking for simpler alternatives as I move around quite a lot. Thanks! Oh yes, I believe you can get the name of my daily broadcasts from the email address! I am a trained journalist and radio veteran. Also, I do have interest from terrestrial radio to carry, so it needs to be up to broadcast quality. That, and hauling around the least amount of gear, sums up my quest. Thanks again!
